Loads of people enjoy scrapbooking because it's a great way to appreciate the moments enjoyed with friends and family.  Begin with a simple project and choose a theme: a certain vacation, a single holiday, a child’s school career, a wedding.  There are many great scrapbooking ideas out there for you to try.

Don't get into the trap of using every single photo you have in your scrapbook, just choose the ones you feel tell the story the best. Leave the rest of the photos in the shoebox for future projects.

Let go of the pressures by not setting a deadline. Don’t make the story strictly chronological, don't go crazy with the colors you use, set out to design each page differently, or set any unnecessary goals.

The basics of course involve having an album, so pick one that will go with the idea that you have or let the store supply inspire you. Whilst you are buying your album you might as well buy some re-fill pages that fit your album. It would be a terrible thing to happen that you are working away happily on your project only to discover that you are unable buy any refill pages for the album you bought. Get a good pair of scissors just for scrapbooking, and make sure they are comfortable in your hand and sharp, then keep them with your supplies.

Another thing to have on your shopping list is some adhesive. Find one in the scrapbooking aisle of the craft store. Make sure it’s acid-free and is good for both photos and cardstock, because you will want to choose cardstock and paper to accent your photos. Choose holiday colors for holiday scrapbooking and baby pastels for baby scrapbooking.
